It seems almost everyone I have added on Vox has stopped using it. There has been none of the Livejournal integration features I hoped for despite Vox being officially launched.
It seems they are going to operate completely separately. This is no huge loss because after a few changes Livejournal is now closer to the sort of thing I am looking for. It has the themes and SixApart are moving it in the right direction in many ways. Apart from the ads, which I hate bitterly, I am happy enough to keep a paid account at the current prices though.
Considering I have very good ad filtering through my Firefox plugins I am not too bothered about the ad supported features on livejournal. I do think they were implemented wrongly though. I think people who opt in to adverts should have god adverts and no one else should. Making people who do not choose to be ad supported see adverts on pages of other people didn't impress me.
Overall I would say livejournal has improved though. I wouldn't have used LJ Talk if it were not simple enough to add a jabber server to my list of IM protocols in Adium though. If I had to run another client I wouldn't bother. Especially having to run Gizmo Project, which I can't stand.
As much as I want to stick with Vox it seems unlikely that it will be worth it unless I build up a set of friends who use it regularly. I don't tend to make new friends online much any more so this probably won't happen.
Eventually I would like to move back to using Safari as well and only really use Firefox because I use several things that refuse to work properly in Safari. Most days I get tempted to just stop using anything that doesn't work in Safari in principal and use my preferred browser. Firefox is the best thing ever for Windows and Linux but Safari beats it on the Mac. I would use Camino but I still find it a bit buggy compared to other browsers.
How did you pick your Vox name? Does it mean something?

It's from a David Bowie song.

Hoppípolla! Sigur Rós has the right idea there.
I am not in the mood for it today though. I just got soaked to death in town instead. So wet I had to leave my coat and boots to dry and take all of my clothes off. So I had a shower and put my dressing gown on and now all is well and dry in my world. I smell of Lush Olive Branch shower gel too so I keep wanting to lick myself.
So today the answer is sitting inside in a dressing gown reading the book on sushi preperation I bought.
I seem to go through phases of being really into one thing which consumes most of my waking thoughts. Past ones have been Linux, politics, X-Men comics, serial killers, cowboys, pirates, Doctor Who, The X-Files and many other things I have probably forgotten about.
At the moment it is playing video games. I have aquired a Playstation 2 and some games to play as well as dragging out my old Playstation and buying a Sega Mega Drive (Genesis in the USA) and Master System on ebay, neither of which have arrived yet. I also downloaded several emulators and a couple of hundred game roms to play in them.
I really don't do things by halves when gripped by an obsession. I was getting through thirty X-Men comics at one point after all.
I really wish I had bought a Playstation 2 ages ago but I got rather disillusioned with video games in the late 1990s and pretty much gave them up apart from the occasional replay of Monkey Island games on my iMac.
Now I am having great fun playing The Godfather and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The Playstation 2 only cost £35 from a car boot sale too! I also bought The Getaway but I haven't gotten around to playing that yet. I've been playing Lemmings a lot on the Mega Drive emulator too, and I have the cartridge coming with the console in the mail any day now!
I hope this obsession lasts and turns into an ongoing thing again. I've spent over £100 on consoles, games and accessories since friday.
For some reason Vox fell off the bookmark set it should have been in, so I have not been on here recently. Expecting me to remember to do something is not always wise. If it is something as unimportant as looking at a website I am guaranteed to forget unless I have it on a folder of bookmarks set to 'open in tabs'.
So here I am. I forgot. I have little to say either. So have a badly photoshopped naked Hilter I made instead of words.
In the morning I was looking at my bird feeders when I spotted a plant that had sprung up underneath it...
Later on in the day I heard my mother scream. Something had pounced out at her while putting something in the big bag outside.
He lives next door aparantly, he's really tame so I got to prod him a bit. I would have called him Alan personally. He looks more like an Alan than a Frederick.
Then just moments ago I heard a commotion outside my window. Shouting and a whooshy noise. This thing floated right over my house very closely.
What do you collect?
Dust, cobwebs and regrets.
What's your favourite way to keep in touch? Phone, snail mail, email, text message, Vox, _____ ?
I tend to use Google Talk and Yahoo Messenger mostly. I have been known to send the odd email and text message though. I only use telephones when there is no other option.
What movie would you really recommend renting or seeing this weekend?
Withnail & I
Everyone should watch it every weekend! It is bloody fantastic.
